Hai Guys! My name is Tato-Kitten. This is my first time blogging. Today I'll be talking about sharks. Most sharks are endangered. The shark population is only endangered because of humans. Humans fin them (finning is cutting their fins off and then throwing the sharks back) for shark fin soup! I mean, come on! And sharks also get caught in fishing gear. I know it's only big nets, but should you really be fishing were sharks are? You should know how dangerous these nets are to these creatures. Another problem; over the years people have stereotyped sharks. If you were to ask what they think of sharks, it's probable that they will say something along the lines of scary, mean, and man-eating monsters. But that is not the case at all. There are only three species that are responsible for a double digit number of fatal, unprovoked attacks. Also, if someone got attacked by a shark, it might have been a misunderstanding. What I mean by that is, sharks sometimes mistake people for natural prey. The shark sees your hands and feet over the edge of the surfboard, thinks your a seal. Simple as that. BUT this does not happen often. One other thing is that since 1580, there has been 484 unprovoked, fatal shark attacks world-wide, while humans kill 100 MILLION sharks EVERY YEAR. That's equal to 11,000 EVERY HOUR! And your afraid of the sharks? So next time you think about sharks, be like "Hmm, are sharks really that bad?" OK, Tato-Kitten signing out!
